Pretend like this was posted yesterday. I helped Todd and Becky move and didn't get around to it, perfectly good excuse !
Feb 2009 I got the chance to go to Peru with my dad. We went with Dave Clark. Brother David as my dad calls him, he is SO awesome. We went with his group The Andean Foundation For A Better Life.
It was probably the best trip i've ever been on. If you take a look at the itinerary, you will see it keeps you VERY busy for those 11 days. As Dave says, you can sleep when you get home! or on the 6 hour layover on the floor of the airport!
Machu Pichu was imense and almost overwhelming. It was fun to learn about and participate in their culture.
Taking a much needed nap after hiking all the way to the top, it was SO beautiful!
Our "dinner entertainment" they were soooo creepy! and wanted you to dance with them!
The part that really intrigued me about going to Peru was the service aspect. We got to build a stove for a village that would help feed over 100 a day. It was exhausting hauling all the brick but worth it, especially as we visiting hospitals and orphanages and got to see the extreme need that those people have. Things that i took for granted without even thinking twice about it. Things like carpet, running water, even shoes.
I wish i wouldn't have let the kids play around with my camera. They ended up reformatting my card and i lost ALL my pictures, so i was very dissapointed in that but good thing my dad and Hawna and Fisher were there! I also wish i wouldn't have gone to the mall in Lima Peru, as this is where someone pushed me over and stole my bags (of all the cool stuff i was buying for my friends ) and my money. It was an outdoor mall and as soon as they had come then had vanished into all the people. That put a downer to the end of my trip but im very grateful i got the opportunity to grow and to experience that!
It was so much fun ! i can't wait to go again!!!
got up at like 4 am to go haul bricks from the side of a hill, into a truck, drive the truck across the village, unload onto a tarp only to find that we then had to put them into wheel barrows and move them down another hill. that was a VERY exhausting day! But look how GREAT it turned out!
I could tell you SO many stories about Peru!! It was awesome, and great to be there with my dad!
